New Zealand v Northern Transvaal

New Zealand`s first first-class match in South Africa in 32 years
fizzled out to a draw.  Much of the game was interrupted by rain.

For the Kiwis Darrin Murray (72) and Stephen  Fleming  (114)  im-
pressed  witrh  the bat.  Northern`s can be well-pleased with the
performances of Mike Rindel (91) enabling a recovery from   3/21,
and off spinner Mark Davis  who returned bowling figures of 4/53.

Fleming`s hundred came with a six off Rudi  Byson.   He  finished
with  114, including 15 fours and three sixes.  The previous hun-
dred in South Africa by a Kiwi was the 109 scored by Paul  Barton
in the final test at St George`s Park 32 years ago.
