Date-stamped : 23 Feb95 - 10:37 Zimbabwe v Pakistan, ODI 1 Harare Sports Club, Harare, 22 February 1995 Wasim has a hand in tied match - Geoffrey Dean PAKISTAN`S tour of Zimbabwe seems to have a boundless capacity for drama. In the first of three one-day internationals yester- day, the scores were level with two balls remaining. Wasim Akram, who had come in as Pakistan`s No 11, was on strike but could bat with only one hand as the other was bandaged and gloveless. Guy Whittal bowled a full toss, Wasim lashed out at it one- handed, but hit it straight back to a jubilant bowler. The match was a tie, only the ninth in one-day international history, with five now having involved Pakistan. The tourists should have won. They needed only 51 off the last 10 overs with six wickets in hand before two silly run-outs ensued. When the final over began, seven were needed but Aamir Nazir holed out off the first delivery. After a wide and a dot ball, Saeed Anwar squirted a four through backward point to reach a worthy eighth one-day hundred off 131 balls. But with two needed off three balls, he unwisely took a leg bye, exposing Akram who had required six stitches in the webbing of his right hand after trying to take a fierce return catch off Steve Peall.
