Date-stamped : 27 Sep96 - 14:10 September 27, 1996 Injury problems hit SA and Pakistan SABC Radio 5 news reported this morning that Amir Shohail, Inza- mam Ul Haq and Mushtaq Ahmed were all declared unfit for the 4 nations tournament commencing on Saturday in Kenya. South Africa too have injury problems with Shaun Pollock, Jacques Kallis and Paul Adams being incapacitated. However, captain Han- sie Cronje will play after worries about an injury to his left hand. Cronje hurt the hand during a clinic for spin bowlers conducted by Ashley Mallet. The bowler, ironically, was Paul Adams. SA Coach Bob Woolmer has reportedly said that he would like to give all of the 14 South African squad members at least one game in Kenya, but that circumstances may not make this feasible. The squad includes Derek Crookes and Nic Boje who are relatively in- experienced at top level and the uncapped Herschell Gibbs. South Africa and Pakistan kick off their campaign in earnest on Sunday when they play each other. Saturday`s opening game sees hosts Kenya playing World Cup holders Sri Lanka.
