Date-stamped : 01 May97 - 06:16 Minor Counties were unable to emulate Ireland`s win against the odds over Middlesex at Edgbaston, where they were beaten by Warwickshire by 155 runs. Their dismissal for 106 gave Warwickshire a full hand of 20 wickets in Group A after routing Worcestershire for 96. This, however, was a better pitch, one good enough for Warwickshire to make 261 for seven and not as treacherous as it appeared when Gladstone Small took five wickets in 14 balls. The performance brought Small, 35, his first Gold Award in 18 seasons, and this after his first ball had been pulled for six by Steve Dean. Batting was never straightforward, but Warwickshire`s first half-centuries of the season were recorded by Andy Moles and Dougie Brown.
