Date-stamped : 03 May97 - 06:14 Scotland v Durham Durham (154-2) bt Scotland (150-8) by 8 wkts DURHAM made short work of it against Scotland at Forfar yesterday, taking a mere 24 overs and three balls to overhaul a modest target of 150 for eight. David Boon won the toss and sent Scotland in to bat on a wicket which seamed from the start, so much so that by the time the openers had departed only 22 runs had come from 16 overs. Not until Mike Smith and Greig Williamson came together in a fourth-wicket stand which yielded 73, did the Scots enter the contest. Smith reached a splendid fifty which won him the gold award but the Scots had little else to offer. Durham`s batsmen rushed to 36 in six overs before John Lewis fell to a stinging catch by Williamson at point off Kevin Thomson. Paul Collingwood gave Scott Gourlay an easy return catch at 68 but Mike Foster then took complete control with an unbeaten 73, finishing the game in the 25th over with a six out of the ground over long on.
