Date-stamped : 12 May97 - 06:15 AXA Life League Round-Up: Dash and splash make for hectic day THIS GAME might have been designed for its cameo slot in the BSkyB schedule: 16 overs a side, more slapstick than cricket, and bewilderingly slapdash in the way Leicestershire contrived to reach 44 for seven in 65 balls. Neil Johnson drove Phil Newport`s fifth delivery for six, three wickets fell within four balls in Newport`s second over, and not another boundary was seen until four batsmen had been run out. The calamities were due as much to Worcestershire`s fielding as to the madcap element in the batting. Yet Leicestershire were to produce not only the most assured batting of the match in Aftab Habib`s 45 from 43 balls, but they snatched victory by six runs when the frenzy of the occasion overtook Worcestershire and they were restricted to 92 for nine. One game plan disappeared when Tom Moody and Graeme Hick - the latter cutting to backward point - departed in two overs from Alan Mullally, and another collapsed when Gordon Parsons took two wickets in a four-over spell which cost only nine runs. At least the pace of events rewarded the scattering of spectators who waited after lunchtime rain for a belated start at 5.20 pm.
