Date-stamped : 19 May97 - 06:15 Lancashire v Notts Lancashire (141-8) beat Notts (139) by 2 wickets BOWLERS dominated at Old Trafford where in tribute to Eric Cantona, whose retirement was announced over the road, batsmen were picked off like seagulls feeding on scraps, writes Neville Scott. On a difficult green pitch, Lancashire prevailed by eight wickets after they inserted Nottinghamshire and dismissed them in the 40th over for 139. Lancashire reached their target, despite intelligent captaincy from Paul Johnson, with two wickets in hand and 13 balls to spare. Jason Gallian`s undefeated 54, one of just two innings overall to get beyond 20, maintained Lancashire`s 100 per cent record in three games so far. Equally key performers were the off-spinners, Mike Watkinson, in his first one-day match this season, and Gary Yates with impeccable control of length.
