Date-stamped : 16 Jun97 - 10:21 DERBYSHIRE`S troubles multiplied with a crushing defeat by 108 runs in a rain-delayed 21-over match at Edgbaston. Warwickshire hit 17 fours and nine sixes in making 201 for six and then humbled their stunned visitors for 93, writes Mike Beddow. An opening stand of 93 in 11 overs by Nick Knight and Neil Smith was only a taster for Dougie Brown`s whirlwind progress to a half- century in 19 balls and 57 from 23. At the height of the storm four balls from Vince Clarke pro- duced three sixes and the wicket of Smith, the victim of a sprawling catch at long on by Phillip DeFreitas after completing his third fifty in four Sunday innings. Derbyshire were then totally swamped by an asking rate of nearly 10 runs an over. Source :: The Electronic Telegraph (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/) Contributed by The Management (help@cricinfo.com)
