Kent   figured  in  a tight finish for the second time in as many
days at Maidstone. This time the two-run verdict  went  in  their
favour.

Northants   effectively   lost   the game in a sticky mid-innings
spell which left them needing more than  eight  an  over   before
David  Sales  brought  the  target back within reach with a bril-
liant 39 off 24 balls.   Kent  were  indebted  to  captain  Steve
Marsh, who made an unbeat- en 39 off 26 balls.
