Paul Johnson, the Nottinghamshire captain, had led the way with a superb century containing 12 fours and a six off 67 balls. Earlier Mark Ramprakash made a dashing 52 in a century opening partnership with Paul Weekes (53) before Owais Shah made 66 off 60 balls to lift Middlesex to 231, their highest Sunday score of the season.
