Date-stamped : 01 Jul97 - 10:16 Will House and Ed Smith, both under contract to Kent, con- tributed a shade more than half of Cambridge University`s first innings 187 against the county at Canterbury. House followed Smith`s 54 with a pleasant 42 that included seven fours and David Churton made 22 before his bizarre dis- missal - lbw rejected but run out from slip. Ed How`s five wickets for 59 for the University on Saturday was a remarkable feat for a bowler whose career figures in mid-April were one for 503 and who came into this match with an average of 155. Kent`s second innings flourished or foundered on a mixture of competent and crass bowling, gratefully filleted by Nigel Llong who scored 99.
