Mark Verdon Boucher made his international debut for South Africa at the age of twenty one. Stepping into the shoes of Dave Richardson, Mark Boucher soon became South Africa's undisputed number one wicket keeper.

As all the South Africans do, Mark Boucher takes his fielding very seriously. As a wicket keeper, fielding is Boucher's forte and he gives new meaning to the word professionalism. Following traditional methods, Boucher is as safe a pair of hands behind the stumps as any in the world. With youth on his side, Boucher is athletic, fit and totally supple, covering a lot of ground, and equally comfortable diving to both sides.

As a batsman, Boucher has proved himself more than useful time and time again, coming up with valuable innings just when the team needed it most. A complete team man, Boucher is now a permanent feature of the South African team.
