Debashish Sarbeshwar Mohanty is a young fast bowler with an exotic whirlwind action. He races up to the crease and delivers the ball in spectacular fashion. His run up begins slowly, but as he approaches the crease he is fairly screaming in. Mohanty bowls with a high arm action and with the seam straight up. More than being express fast, it is Mohanty's deadly swing bowling that makes him lethal.

Mohanty is an attacking bowler, and bowls the ball very full, giving it enough time in the air to swing. Mohanty's stock delivery is a ball that curves away from the right hander. Though his action is highly unusual, it is one that works exceptionally well for him. Mohanty's deliveries have a consistent shape and that makes any change of direction lethal. Mohanty has developed a sharp off-cutter and it's a ball that works very well for him as a variation.

On sub-continental wickets where the ball hardly comes onto the bat, Mohanty is a useful bowler because the movement he extracts. His real value however is obvious when the conditions offer him some assistance. Mohanty can swing the ball both ways, and is always looking for wickets.
