Objectives
  • To promote the game of Cricket at all levels through the partnership of the professional and recreational Cricketing bodies and other appropriate agencies within the County of Hampshire in support of the National Development Plan.
  • To co-ordinate the work of all the individual cricketing agencies within Hampshire, ensuring that the best possible use is made of the resources available.
  • To produce an annual County Development Plan for submission to the Cricket Foundation ensuring that the allocation of funds granted by the Cricket Foundation are applied to the approved schemes and that those schemes are monitored and reported on.
  • To ensure every young person is introduced to the game and encouraged to take part.
  • To ensure a vibrant club game.
  • To ensure an organisational structure which allows the progression and development of talented Cricketers to the professional game.

ON THE FIELD
  • Eligibility to play in ECB and HCB competitions such as the County Championship, 50+ competition, National Club Knockout, Indoor Cricket, Youth Cricket up to U19 level in local, representative and National competitions.
  • Developing the performance of your club and individual members through participation in an extensive range of coaching and training activities including Youth Development via Club/Schools, starting with Kwik Cricket into Junior Schools and progressing on to Club/School links using HCB's two Development Officers, Tony Middleton and Alan Rowe
  • Coach Development in conjunction with the Hampshire Association of Cricket Coaches, running courses at all levels for cricketers that wish to have a formal coaching qualification.
  • Umpiring and Scoring courses throughout the County.
  • Developing the facilities your club can offer through special offers and fund raising.
OFF THE FIELD
  • Grants - comprehensive advice about the various organisations which may be approached for funding along with support and recommendation for funding from a multiplicity of fund providers.
  • Insurance - advice and eligibility for beneficial terms of schemes specifically designed for HCB members.
  • Exclusive discounts -Hampshire Cricket Club & Holt and Haskell.

WHO DOES WHAT

AREA ASSOCIATIONS
  • To promote and co-ordinate youth cricket at a local level, under the guidance of the county youth development officers and within the county development plan.
  • To promote and protect the interests of cricket at a local level. To promote active club - school links.
  • To service the needs of member clubs in any operational area where local co-ordination is required - (grants, local competitions, coaches, umpires).
  • To represent grass roots cricket on the county board.

FACILITIES DEVELOPMENT
  • To improve the playing surfaces on which the recreational game in Hampshire is practised and played.
  • To understand the status and plans for facilities of all clubs, schools and institutions.
  • To specify the desired standards for each level and prepare plans to meet them.
  • To co-ordinate the provision of groundsman training in conjunction with National Bodies.
  • To provide a central source of relevant reference material and practical advice.

FINANCE & MEMBERSHIP
  • To administer the funds of the board and to report regularly to the Executive Committee.
  • To assist Members with Grant Applications, obtain funding from commercial sources.
  • To inform all existing and potential Members of Board activities. To encourage and promote Board membership/commercial sponsorship.

OFFICIATING
  • To recruit aspiring umpires and scorers.
  • To train and develop all umpires across the whole county.
  • To liaise with and represent Hampshire to the ACU & S.
  • To provide competent umpires throughout the pyramid including schools.

SENIOR CRICKET
  • Co-ordination of senior recreational cricket for all registered players throughout the county - male and female.
  • To organise and manage County representative teams at senior and over 50 levels.
  • Promote the development of League Cricket in the County.
  • Co-ordinate winter indoor six a side competitions.
  • Contribute to the annual development plan in conjunction with the five year development plan to be produced.
  • Implement National Disciplinary Guidelines.

YOUNG CRICKETERS DEVELOPMENT
  • To co-ordinate Cricket for all players under 19 to ensure that young sports men and women are encouraged to participate in the game and to ensure all young players in membership of the board are offered an equal opportunity to fulfil their full potential

There is a MAJOR shortage of umpires.
We need to have suitably competent umpires for all levels of the pyramid - for club and school games. This does NOT mean you will have to pass exams !!!
We have local associations that can help develop your skills.
