Rahul Dravid's Awards

In recognition of his outstanding form, where he scored Test double hundreds in three different countries, and was a vital contributor to India's success on the tours of Australia and Pakistan, Rahul Dravid was chosen as the ICC's Test Player of the Year in September 2004.

Dravid was not only in rich form in Test cricket, he excelled in the shorter version of the game too, and aggregated 944 runs in the period for the awards. Recognising his form in both forms of the game, Dravid was voted the ICC's Cricketer of the Year and awarded the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy. The award is voted for by an academy consisting 50 eminent personalities, which includes current captains, journalists, television commentators, match referees and umpires on the ICC's Elite panel and prominent former cricketers.

In June 2004, Rahul Dravid was awarded the Padma Shri - an award given by the Government of India to individuals in recognition of their distinguished contribution to their field of specialisation. Dravid received the award from President Abdul Kalam in a glittering ceremony at the Rashtrapathi Bhavan.
