Century No: 1 (3rd Test v SA in SA 1996/97 at Johannesburg - Runs: 148)

That elusive first Test century finally arrived in Dravid's 9th Test and 15th innings, against South Africa at Johannesburg. His twin efforts of 148 & 81 took India desperately close to victory but the bowlers - who removed seven wickets for 95 as the South Africans chased an improbable 356 - just could not deliver the knockout blow. Century No: 2 (only test v Zim in Zim 1998/99 at Harare - Runs: 118)

Dravid's second ton was also made on the African continent, against Zimbabwe in Harare when he carved out 118. It set up the prospect of an Indian victory but a dismal collapse in the second innings in pursuit of 235 (Dravid again top scoring with 44) invited defeat instead. [ Scorecard ]

Century No: 3 & 4 [ 3rd Test v NZ in NZ 1998/99 at Hamilton - Runs: 190 (1st innings) & 103* (2nd innings) ]

A century in each innings (190 & 103 not out) against New Zealand at Hamilton meant Dravid became only the third Indian in 67 years of Test cricket to perform the feat after Vijay Hazare and Sunil Gavaskar [ Scorecard ]

Century No: 5 (Asia Test Championship 2nd match v SL in SL 1998/99 at Colombo - Runs: 107)

The Asian Test Championship clash against Sri Lanka brought up another ton for Dravid as he and Sadagoppan Ramesh added 232 for the second wicket. Needing to win to stake a place in the final, India piled up over 500 but Sri Lanka comfortably drew the game with a strong riposte of their own. [ Scorecard ]

Century No: 6 (1st Test v NZ in Ind 1999/00 at Chandigarh - Runs: 144)

Having been taken out for 1 during India's first innings demolition for 83 at Mohali, Dravid made amends by stroking a 3rd century in 4 innings against the hapless Kiwis. The effort of 144 was his sixth Test century and first in India. [ Scorecard ]

Century No: 7 (1st Test v Zim in Ind 2000/01 at Delhi - Runs: 200*)

Dravid's first Test double century against the Zimbabweans at the Kotla was also his first three figure knock in a winning cause for India. In the second innings Dravid was present in the middle to oversee the triumph in person finishing not out on 70 as India cruised home by seven wickets. [ Scorecard ]

Century No: 8 (2nd Test v Zim in Ind 2000/01 at Nagpur - Runs: 162)

The hapless Zimbabweans continued to face the full fury of Dravid's blade as he pocketed his third century in three Tests against them. But on a featherbed wicket at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur, the game was destined to end in a tall scoring draw. [ Scorecard ]

Century No: 9 (2nd Test v Aus in Ind 2000/01 at Calcutta - Runs: 180)

Coach John Wright's snap decision to demote Dravid to No.6 in the second innings at Kolkata triggered off an extraordinary chain of events culminating in a fantastic series triumph. Dravid's own 180 was the perfect foil to VVS Laxman's epic 281 as the pair batted out the fourth day with a 376 run partnership. [ Scorecard ]

Century No: 10 (1st Test v WI in WI 2001/02 at Georgetown - Runs: 144*)

After an uncharacteristically century-less spell, Dravid hit a fighting, unbeaten 144 in the face of a mammoth West Indian total of 501. Only thanks to that knock, and the West Indies' own too-ruminative batting, did India draw the Test. [ Scorecard ]

Century No: 11 (2nd Test v Eng in Eng 2002 at Nottingham - Runs: 115)

After Matthew Vaughan had hit up 197 and given England a huge first-innings lead, India needed Dravid to put out his anchor and take root. Which he duly did, hitting up 115 and allowing Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly to bat around him in the second innings. [ Scorecard ]

Century No: 12 (3rd Test v Eng in Eng 2002 at Leeds - Runs: 148)

Dravid's first innings century at Leeds was part of a star-studded Indian batting effort; Tendulkar and Ganguly also hit centuries, and India notched up 628 after bravely deciding to bat first - the highest total in any England-India Test match. It ensured that India only needed to bat once in the match and gave them a famous win. [ Scorecard ]

Century No: 13 (4th Test v Eng in Eng 2002 at The Oval - Runs: 217)

Had India won this Test, it would have notched up an epochal series win in England, but after Michael Vaughan hit a sterling 195, India would have been satisfied to just not lose the match. Dravid made sure of that by making the second double century of his career; after his 217, the next highest score in India's total of 508 was Tendulkar's 54. [ Scorecard ]

Century No: 14 (1st Test v WI in Ind 2002/03 at Mumbai - Runs: 100*)

Virender Sehwag had given India a blazing first-innings start, and Dravid built upon it with an unbeaten 100, his fourth in four innings. He retired hurt as soon as he reached three figures, but by then, India's total was already high enough for the spinners to skittle the West Indies out twice and take the match. [ Scorecard ]

Century No: 15 (1st Test v NZ in Ind 2003/04 at Ahmedabad - Runs: 222)

Dravid's third double century came as part of a steady Indian batting display against a weak New Zealand attack. In addition to his 222, Ganguly made an unbeaten 100, and had the wicket not progressed into a lethargic surface, India's bowlers could well have rewarded Dravid's diligence with a victory. Century No: 16 (2nd Test v Aus in Aus 2003/04 at Adelaide - Runs: 233)

As achievements go, this will probably remain a golden memory for Dravid forever. His first-innings 233, as part of a silken partnership with VVS Laxman, gave India the confidence it needed to pull off a remarkable, historic win. Fittingly, it was Dravid who hit the winning runs in the second innings, helping chase down 230 with another magnificently responsible 72. [ Scorecard ]

Century No: 17 (3rd Test v Pak in Pak 2003/04 at Rawalpindi - Runs: 270)

The series drawn at 1-1, India needed a win to complete a historic series win in Pakistan, and Dravid delivered when it mattered. Keenly aware of the need to bat just once, Dravid made 270 in 740 minutes, as others batted around him and gave India 600. Century No: 18 (2nd Test v BD in BD 2004/05 at Chittagong - Runs: 160)

Dravid's 160 may not have come against bowling of the highest quality, but it was still made in inimitable Dravid style - with elegance and honest play. Partnering Gautam Gambhir (139) for much of the innings, Dravid built a total of 540 that, despite Mohammad Ashraful's blazing century, proved too much for Bangladesh. [ Scorecard ]

Century No: 19 and 20 (2nd Test v Pak in Ind 2005/05 at Kolkata - Runs: 110 and 135)

It was the second time Dravid had come up with two centuries in the same match, and it gave India a lead in a hard-fought Test series. First up, he hit 110; then, when India's total was almost matched thanks to centuries from Younis Khan and Yousuf Youhana, he returned to make 135 in the second innings and help set Pakistan a target of 422. Century No: 21 (1st Test v Pak in Pak 2005/06 at Lahore - Runs: 128*)

It rained runs at the Gadaffi Stadium - First the Pakistani batsmen piled on a small matter of 679 runs, and then Virender Sehwag contributed his small bit by scoring 254 runs. While Dravid's century was overshadowed for most part of his innings by Sehwag's blitzkrieg at the other end, Dravid himself cruised to his 21st test century, his first century as India's test captain, and formed an integral part of the 410-run opening stand with Sehwag - only the second time in test history that 400 runs were added for the first wicket. Century No: 22 (2nd Test v Pak in Pak 2005/06 at Faisalabad - Runs: 103)

Dravid scored his second ton of the series on a featherbed of a pitch, leading India.s reply to Pakistan.s tall score of 588. Together with VVS Laxman, the pair added 197 for the second wicket after Virender Sehwag was dismissed fairly early. Dravid made his intentions clear, punishing the first ball of the third day for a boundary and thereafter, continued to catch the bowlers off guard, each time they erred in line and length. Century No: 23 (2nd Test v WI in WI 2006 at St Lucia - Runs: 146)

There may have been a hint of regret in Dravid.s mind coming into the St. Lucia Test, given his conversion rate in the West Indies. With just one ton among seven half-centuries since his first tour, he responded with a stroke-filled 146 on a pitch which stayed true to his judgement when he won the toss. His delightful straight drives were a feature early in his innings and all along ensured no loose ball was spared, striking 16 boundaries. More significant were his two partnerships in excess of 100, with Virender Sehwag and Mohammad Kaif, guiding India to an imposing total of 588. [ Scorecard ]
